The African Content Moderators Union (ACMU) has taken a crucial step in defending the rights of digital workers with the launch of its 2024-2025 Strategic Plan. This initiative aims to strengthen the union, provide direct support to content moderators, and influence labor policies in the tech industry.

ACMU's strategy is built on four key pillars:

1. Empowering members with knowledge by educating them about their rights and how to advocate for themselves.

2. Building a strong union with solid organizational structures and continuous membership growth.

3. Providing direct support to address urgent needs such as mental health, food security, and crisis assistance.

4. Raising awareness and driving change through advocacy campaigns and partnerships with organizations and labor unions.

To achieve these goals, ACMU has outlined a set of key initiatives, including:

• Training and education: Hosting 10 workshops and webinars on labor rights and workplace conditions.

• Mental health support: Providing counseling services, well-being workshops, and peer support groups for moderators.

• Food and crisis assistance (starting March 2025): Distributing food packages, offering emergency housing, and facilitating medical care and legal aid.

• Advocacy and partnerships: Collaborating with policymakers to improve labor protections and launching media campaigns to raise awareness of industry challenges.

ACMU will implement a monitoring system to track the effectiveness of its initiatives. Key indicators include:
