Democracy at Work Fund:
A Solidarity Fund for Workers on the Frontlines.
The Democracy at Work Fund pools support from multiple funders to deliver strategic investments in Asia, Africa, and Latin America aimed at building resilience and strengthening the capacity of workers’ organizations as part of a just, equitable and inclusive transition. The Fund prioritizes efforts led directly by workers in the informal economy, by women and migrant-led organizations, as well as efforts at the intersection of workers’ rights, gender justice, racial justice, and climate justice.

About the Fund
The Democracy at Work Fund provides grants to worker organizations including trade unions, associations and civil society organizations supporting workers in the Global Majority. The fund pools support from multiple funders to deliver grants to frontline organizations in Asia, Africa, and South America aimed at building resilience and strengthening the capacity of workers’ organizations.
The Fund prioritizes efforts led directly by informal workers, led by women and underrepresented groups, as well as efforts at the intersection of workers’ rights, gender justice, racial justice, and climate justice.

In 2024, the inaugural round of the Democracy at Work Fund, administered by Fundación Avina supported 19 organizations across 11 countries from content moderators in Kenya to hospital cleaners in Malaysia to journalists in Argentina.
In 2026, the second round of the Fund commenced. Now administered directly by FORGE, the fund supported 15 new organizations across six countries from palm oil workers in Indonesia to domestic workers in Brazil to metal workers in Kenya.
